Reviews
- Edited 12 days agoFar away from the 'rave' years and all the dancefloor oriented records Groovedge offered us, it's now time for sérénades and poetry.
It's now time to chill in the sofa, think further with ketamine, feel fatter with tripes/potatoes at no time and a cigarette to fill the dead poet soul.
Who's the poet in it?
Kiki or Vivi?
Maybe this album is not about what is done and said, but wins interest for its sound. The sound becomes the artist. Sadly without credits, the instruments are dispatched in this floating spacey room. Maybe Kiki was cutting carrots while Vivi used to observe/breathe the oignon.
At least, before clicking 'REC', they listened the radio. It was a nice channel on which was broadcasted Art Ensemble of Chicago, but, they were not alone. Une impression. Sans hommage. Évidente(ce), Brigitte Fontaine swims in the room.
(the mimics and voice is sadly too much pastiche, but let's forgive)
No pastiche for the rest, but true inspirations of both folk/avant scene from the 70's mixed w/ the actual lyonnaise mustarders tending to re-invent in their microcosme a 'folk'/'prog'/'whatever cool is' scene: OGMA, Parasite Jazz, Ssabæ, but also evocating Klimperei or Emmanuelle Parrenin, Quentin Rollet and lesser known /local/ territories. At the difference that here is introduced a very calm/drone/instrumental (acoustic or electronic) musicality bringing to a very calm place, with maîtrise. Okay, why not another concept if it's cool?
Dealing with an 80's façon de faire (vivre?) isn't the best meditation for a calculative musical industry? What do you cultivate from your listening sessions? Maybe they picked up the best: feel the music, play the old machinery, and talk. But then, we deserve a good suite. Richer than this 1st warm elaboration.
Boris Vian, sosie du président.
Boris Vian. Monsieur, Madame.
Sadly Kiki doesn't have much to tell to the President, like your english, it's not, but we feel your nice voice, inside, sin-side, insights.
When hipstoursh feel hippies... It works
