Reviews
- Very pleased with this release, both the packaging and the pressing. No escaping the fact that these are field recordings, but the sound is excellent considering the source - "Woke Up This Morning With My Mind On Jesus" in particular is hauntingly clear and vivid. My copy plays nice and clean, with occasional light surface noise.
- Edited one year agoI just got a 2011 copy of this. Started with my stereo cart seemed panned a little left and flat. Switched to mono via the pre-amp, and it sounded centered but just flat Now I am playing it through my actual mono cartridge and it just lit up like it is live performance in front me.
- What’s the sound quality like on this pressing? I expect field recordings to be a lil primitive of course
- same sessions as First Recordings (https://www.discogs.com/Fred-McDowell-The-First-Recordings/master/1306139) but with differing song sequence and a couple of titles that differ (though maybe they're not different songs).
