Reviews
- Great album and this 2LP half-speed sounds great. I also have the 1974 Danish release and the sound it's a bit fuller.
- At this point, long-suffering ABBA fans are going through the motions with these Abbey Rd releases. Nothing special here at all - a little fuller-sounding than all releases post the late 70s, soundstage is also wider. The problem is that the mater tapes of most of ABBA's catalogue are in really poor shape, and the more I listen to any Abbey Rd release, the more it becomes apparent that the condition of the master tape is what will ultimately give Miles the chance to really turn in something special. Artwork is so WOEFUL, it is embarrassing. The 2000 Direct Metal Master editions were spectacular high-resolution images. How they have since gone missing or got lost, defies explanation. ABBA / Gorel & Universal are fully aware of these issues, but despite this, they clearly aren't interested in fixing them any time soon.
