Emotion's opening sample: "As a splendid sunrise hits the horn mountain peak much talked of in kalasha prayer, the sound of approaching drums heralds the second day" is the perfect intro to this track on this seminal 1991 EP.
One of many reasons that i love oldskool hardcore on vinyls, is that you rarely hear crackles, even if the vinyl is heavily used, and with plenty of hairline scratches & surface marks. The main reason that oldskool hardcore vinyls do not usually have crackles, is the nature of this music. Tuff breakbeats and hard samples and sounds, almost disappear the crackles of the vinyl. Compared to other styles of music, where even with new sealed vinyls, on pop records, or soul records, or whatever soft style, the crackles are the main problem , even if the vinyl looks great. This release, is one of those hardcore records that plays loud and all 4 tracks are great and worth listening....... My favorite out of 4 is ''is This Real?'' track, which screams 1991 on the highest quality of synthesis and passion for production. You can smell the 1991 air with this track. My second favorite is ''Nu Generation (Outta My Face)'',a heavily Belgian influenced track. The other 2 tracks are great also, however they don't reach the high quality of the 2 previously mentioned tracks, imo.
Huge Hardcore E.P. you simply can't go wrong with this 12", "Feel The Rhythm" being the better known, with "Is This Real?" & "Emotion" being huge tracks in their own right. If your into your Old School hardcore you can't go wrong with this or other Rhythm Section releases, defiantly worth a listen.
DJing at an illegal rave in Boscastle in '91, geezer from up country had few copies of these he was selling, asked me2play it, begrudgingly checked it, sounded surprisingly dope, whacked it in the mix, rocked the fucking house + still caning it nearly 30yrs later. Managed2walk off with the 12" too 😛
This EP is absolutely seminal, For anyone who was raving in 1991 they will have heard at least 3 tracks from this EP. I was more in to the Belgium/Dutch hardcore from 1991 but this EP expanded my mind, Feel The Rhythm, Is This Real & Emotion are tracks so far ahead of their time, even Nu Generation is a phat tune, this is easily one of the best releases of 1991 - BUY IT, The production, arrangement and quality of the tunes is amazing, it still sounds amazing over 27 years later. For just £6 you can own one of the best 12"'s ever released in 1991 and arguably EVER in the rave scene. The fact almost 1200 Discogs members own this 12" shows just how well received and loved this piece of wax was!
