Reviews
- This is a tale of two records. The first record (Caribou) sounds great. Excellent dynamic range, quiet pressing, and detailed sound stage. The second record (bonus tracks) is a mess. It does not adhere to the same audio standards as the proper Caribou album. The extended version of Stinker is awful. Elton's vocals are almost inaudible, buried beneath a cacophony of sound. The good news is that the Caribou album never sounded better on vinyl.
- Vinili perfettamente dritti, bello il colore, suono eccelso, un disco bellissimo e con le bonus track ancora meglio!
- it would have been nice to have an alternate take or two of "Don't Let the Sun..." rather than some of the sub par ones included.
- My copy sounds great. I think I detected a little bit of crackle only on "I've Seen The Saucers" (Side 2, Trk 1). Otherwise, it sounds great, very detailed, clear and dynamic. The blue vinyl is quite nice.
- Edited one year agoWas anyone else expecting one disc to be a leopard skin print? Promo photos indicated as such.
- Blessedly this pressing is a gem! I was worried of the pressing plant, the color as well. It sounds fantastic! Dynamic. Flat. The bonus material is great! Including some favorite b-sides and Stinker Extended is fantastic! Quite chuffed with it all around. I do wish it included a download (as I wish last years RSD of "Don't Shoot Me..." had as well). Sorry to hear others pressing are not so tidy!
- Sounds good when it isn't clicking ore emulating a scratch (which has happened seven times just on side 1). A friend queued for 4 hours to get this for me and this is what I get?. So utterly fed up of this - shit pressing plant quality control despite charging a fortune. Same thing happened with the green vinyl "Tumbleweed Connection" that I paid a small fortune for from America - sealed and pristine looking but full of crackle and clicks.
- Edited one year agoNice touch: the handwritten sentence, 'This album is dedicated to the lads in gold and black' on the spine
- Great sounding with good dynamics ( as with all his remastered reissues) and the bonus tracks are interesting with a good extended version of Stinker. Also flat, quiet and a nice colour.
