- Finally found one in a local store, paid $30, it sounds fucking fantastic. A couple of pops, big whoop, it's vinyl. The silences are very silent. But who am I kidding, if you want this you want it, and you should get one, you'll enjoy it.
- Edited 23 days agoI have a few of these Green Vinyl pressings, and they're pretty noisy - no 'pops' per se, but lots of squiggles, hisses, and short whooshes - bad noise characteristics, I would say, and nowhere near 'audiophile' - I won't be buying anymore - I'll take PVC over PET any day.....and another thing, anytime you recycle plastic (today it's only about 5-9% at best) you make the plastic more toxic than ever....so much for "eco"....!
- Available at T&G's website as of 7/19. Just bought a copy.
https://store.touchandgorecords.com/products/shellac-to-all-trains-cd-lp - His death is that struck me the most - been a fan since puberty and fell in love as an adult even more admiring his apparoach to live. It's just been a sad day. But also turned beautiful when my recordstore replied me on a (closed) sunday to come in store on monday - we played every single record he had in store that was connected to being played or has beend recorded by steve. I stayed the whole day.
I wish nothing but a piece of heart to all people that are flipping - especially you son of a flipper 0.HannesLauterbach. I'm looking at you. - I wonder, will bioplastic last 70 years like some of the records in my collection? Maybe my children will find out in years to come! I can't help but think that eco vinyl is a misplaced effort. Still, this sounds fabulous. What a swan song.
