Reviews
- Diane Tell's hard-to-find debut LP (with it's controversial seductive "thumb-sucking" cover shot) is definately her purest, jazziest & smoothest recording.
While this LP would be later re-released as "Les Cinemas-Bars" after Tell's popularity soared, the original self-titled issue is on the tiny and short-lived PolyDor local sub-label 'Disques Pleiade' (which released just 3 other LP's during it's short lifespan....one from "Le Clan Murphy" and two by "Christine Charbonneau").
(Note: not to be confused with the simlarly-named American or Parisian French labels)
Great bossa nova tinged pop-jazz with a little scat and funk thrown in..... Nice !
Diane Tell (vocals, guitar, all compositions) is accompanied by Andy Shorter (drums ), Bob Cohen (guitar), Jimmy Tanaka (percussion), Mike Morse (stand-up bass), Steve Hall (sax), Guy Desjardins (piano).
