Reviews
- A great entrance for the long running Thunderdome series!
While previous compilations from 2001-2003 seemed to follow a policy of CD 1 being filled with "darkcore / industrial", (which is the more dark, less-melodic approach to the slow-tempo hardcore style of that era), and CD 2 tended to feature the "mainstream" style, (with more melodies, sometimes even approaching a euphoric and happy sound!).
This CD however, the 2004 entry in Thunderdome, seems to have had on each CD both styles and abandon the policy of separation of styles as used on the previous CD releases.
It works great, because each CD offers various styles and therefore neither CD gets boring.
CD 2 features a mix, seemingly digitally done, and as far as we can discern, the work of X-ess and Catscan!
A great mix, sort of a "megamix", with only very short parts of each track being used.(about 1 minute each)
It starts quite "slow", "darkcore" style, but it quickly goes faster, and ends with a few tracks at a quite high tempo!
DT6 (A project by Unexist), Creatures ot Occult (Drokz) and Voldo are three excellent choices to end a Thunderdome CD and an industrial / experimental hardcore mix quite well!
I remember having played the mix over and over again. Always having fun especially when those last 3 tracks kicked in, that was my summer of 2004! - This is such a great Thunderdome complilation and hold very dear memories of. It focusses on the more underground tracks of 2004. There are some massive darker tracks on these discs. But also some big hits like Butterfly VIP and Zoo.
