Reviews
- Edited 7 months agoSo, like the reviews on the other variants, the mastering on this can sound a bit weird, not horrible like some say, but a bit odd and different between tracks. On my system’s (AT VMN605SLC cart, Marantz Cinema 40 receiver, 9.1 Klipsch Reference speaker set up) normal settings, Burial Ground sounds like a 60’s Motown mono master, and on others, the reverb on Colin’s vocals seems to want to approach MMJ’s It Still Moves levels, which really only stands out because the mids sound muted. However, unlike a bad, compressed master (looking at you, PJ’s Dark Matter), there is a lot of clarity and separation here. Playing around with EQ settings just a little bit quickly gets me to a really enjoyable, balanced listen! Gave it a clean before spinning, so no issues with pops or clicks. The swirl colors came out great and the discs look cool as hell, matching the feeling of the artwork.
TLDR: A little annoying to have to dial in the EQ, but am overall happy with this pressing of great tunes!
