My sealed as new copy, pressing variant 2, came with a blood red paper inner sleeve.
Ive never seen one like it in another release...

In addition to the classic musical content, this is also one of the best LP cover art releases of the 1970's.
Not only is it stunning, with African dress & colours of gold & green played against fire reds, but also, look at the faces & body language of the people.

You can feel the tension. They are all looking over at something, the music has stopped. The drummer sits on his Dundumba's loosening his collar & stares disconcertingly. There is trouble on the horizon.

Captures the era politically in a very poignant way.

I think it goes without saying that probably one of the most defining moments for the Last Poets
was a very short but lyrically impressive track from this (their second LP). called "Mean Machine Chant". Probably one of the most sampled phrases used in hip hop music but it often get's used in just about every type of sample based electronic dance music you can think of for the last 25 years. It's such a brilliant chant and it never tires with age. Always relevant and dope.
