- Edited 2 years agoOne of the best 90's albums here, and for sure the most sought after break-beat compilation ever made.
The tunes here are not the big classics, except for maybe ''The Slammer'', yet it presents the best era for those 2 labels, and for UK hardcore music in general, the '93 darkside era, but at the most uplifting edge of it.
Also it contains 3 exclusively/unreleased elsewhere tracks, ''The Chopper (Johnny Jungle Remix)'' , ''Breaks The Unbreakable'' and ''The Joint'', plus the mega rarity ''Unity In Dub (Stop-Go Mix)'' .
My favorite tracks are ''Open Your Mind'' and ''Mixrace Outta Hand'', and i mean what storming tracks are those 2, especially ''mixrace outta hand'' the best track from the whole album!
The only tracks i don't really like here are ''A21'', and ''The Chopper (Johnny Jungle Remix)'', for the latter one, i highly prefer the original version on subplates vol.1 which happens to be one of my favorite subbase tunes.
To put it simple as that, even if i liked this compilation back in time (i used to have it on CD during mid-90's), as the years passing by, i love it even more and more, like an old fine wine which gets better and better, and now it has become one of my favorites electronic albums of all times, so i already own 2 vinyl copies. - Edited 3 years agoClassic old Album, for those starting out in collecting break beat hardcore stuff. Start with this album and go from there. Wouldnt really be my choice for 13 tracks but it starts well with Foul Play-Open Your Mind classic track.
- Edited 6 years agoWhat an amazing LP with some tear out killer tunes. As others have stated, this showcases some great period music some of which has aged very very well. Its inspirational, with a vibe and energy thats hard to beat even today.
Nice little 12" bonus too. - anyone know what the sound quality of this vinyl is like? i know more than 2 per side normal makes its lower quality.
- Worth the price alone for DJ Hype The Chopper (Johnny Jungle Remix) which was exclusive on this LP. also great for a back up of Lords of Null lines original mix which still remains to be my favourite MS release. Great selection overall.
