Reviews
- My gold copy sounds great; there is a tiny bit of crackle here and there, but having grown up in the non-digital era, I find it perfectly normal and acceptable. The sound quality and the music itself are very good, too! I'm only slightly put off by the nonconforming inner sleeve. Also, mine wasn't sealed in any way--it came in a (non-resealable) poly sleeve, though I bought it from the same online record store that previously sent me a slit-open (once sealed) record as "new," so who knows whether it came that way from the manufacturer.
- A fair amount of noise on side A, including a pretty rough patch that sounds briefly like static. Side B is much better. A little disappointed, but overall the sound quality is good.
- This album is absolutely killer. My press also sounds perfect. Rich, full, zero flaws. It sounds like a few of the gold presses have issues, but I can report that not all do, as mine sounds great.
- Took a gamble on the gold pressing since I saw it in store. I'm very impressed. Flat, quiet, mastered beautifully and looks killer. The tip-on sleeve is a nice touch too. My only "issue" is the lined black inner sleeve it came with doesn't fully fit in the cover LOL
- Edited one month agoI cleaned my record with a micro fiber cloth and record cleaning solution before spinning and it sounds crystal clear with no pops, cracks, zips or surface noise.
For the record itself, this may very well be my album of the year and I’m stoked to have it on this beautiful gold pressing. - Edited one month agoSubpar pressing doesn't do the album justice. Occasional surface noise and non-fill do distract from the otherwise spotless production. The vinyl edition FEELS great in the hands, but strictly audibly speaking, the CD might be the better choice on this one.
- Have the Gold and lots of noise on last track on both sides- even after cleaning. Picked up the Black vinyl- no noise at all great pressing.
- I was very hesitant to pick up this gold version after some of the reviews, but I haven't seen any feedback on the black vinyl so I caved and picked this up yesterday from a local shop. Thankfully, my copy actually sounds very good. Side B has 2 small "swooshes" on the lead in, but then is rather silent. Side A played without issue. However, this shop is a bit odd sometimes and want to see others experience - mine came in a poly sleeve that was then inside of another sleeve with a tab overtop that was sticky sealed. Is this what others have experienced?
- This is a fairly noisy pressing, IMO. Is it unlistenable? No. I have heard worse. But it is a below average pressing in that regard, pretty clearly. There isn't silence between tracks, which helps, but there are quiet(er) passages where the noise intrudes.
It looks nice, and the packaging is really good.
I wouldn't say to avoid this, but I feel like some others are downplaying the noise a bit. Temper your expectations. - Edited 20 days agoHorrible noise throughout the record. It's the same vinyl packaging that was used for the 10th anniversary reissue for Metamodern Sounds in Country Music
