Trance Dance for me, the Blade Runner samples and deepness set it apart. Induces synaesthesia almost every time.

Don't agree with the other comment. All tracks are ok even Eye Of India.....its not the best.....but its still good. I like the style of this release because it mixes dark tones with lo-fi and also having a happy element. It reminds me of some movie music. .

Jake Stephenson's first full length I believe. A nice retrospect of early trance just post the early rave day sounds. When sounds became a bit more streamlined and trance was the new thing. Hence the name. Crystal Moon is my favorite on the cd. Slow moving and lovely melody. This is why I still listen to Jake's stuff these days. He was always psychedelic but rarely cheesy. Some of his tracks stand the test of time and some do not. However his production ability and talent took you to where he wanted them to go. And most of the songs have very good parts in them. A little more minimalism in his tracks could of pushed his music to legendary status though. As they change a lot but they aren't all over the place. Some of his music stays in the sweet spots and some do not. How excellent is the part in Trance dance towards the end? That trance almost verges on deep house. And that's an example of when he nails it he nailed it. Then you have Eye of India which doesn't stand the test if time. Crash is pretty decent. But for 1992 this would have been above average for sure. That's the cool thing and something I think is important when listening to music that's 22 years old. You have the experience to out yourself in those times and listen subjectively but understand what was out then and compare it to. Pre-internet. Strange and Unusual is a good example of being able to do that. His charm comes through. Flight ends the cd with another favorite on the album. Nice memories here. Note: volume is super low on this cd.
Overall a good album. A little short on length. If like your trance a little slower and a little more spacey and memorable then you will be happy this cd. grade : solid B
