I discovered these guys in the first "Community Service" mix of The Crystal Method thanks to the song "Cake Hole".

Despite of being from 2004, there is definitely a 90s vibe into it. This is not a typical 2000's breakbeat product that sounds like Koma + Bones, the "Y2K" series or the second "Community Service" from The Crystal Method. There are such sounding tunes in this "You Can Be Special Too" production like "For Lovers Not Fighters" and "We Have The Energy".

However, and this is mostly why I picked up this CD, there are several other genres explored such as hip-hop with "Crooked" and "Earth", a bit of turntablism on smooth samples with "Snack Bar Lounge" and "Even The Smells" as well as trip hop with "You Are Not Through".

As far as I am concerned, the most outstanding choon is "Restless". No wonder the "Fast & Furious" included it in their soundtrack. Don't you ever dare playing it on open roads, or your speakers won't be the only things exploded !
"Hired Goons" is also a lovely gem, with an etheral outro that leaves you full of dreams.
But "Crooked" is a hell of a tune too. That menacing intro never misses giving me goosebumps and the excitement for the upcoming beats is always there. The rapper is excellent as well.

Yet, I can't give it 5 stars. The modified voices of "For Lovers Not Fighters" and the lyrics of "Pearl Shot" do not satisfy me as much as the rest of the LP. There are also 1 or 2 forgettable skits. But, don't get me wrong, it is a cool ride for sure.

wicked release from the marine parade boyz. infusing breaks, electro, rock and roll, hip hop, and more, pat and tom are bringin' it proper. personal favorites include 'devil stuff,' 'we have the energy,' 'pearl shot,' and 'hired goons.'
