...he produced masterpieces by iggy pop & the stooges, nico, modern lovers &
patti smith: only for that he would deserve a lifelong place on my jukebox
island. his musical output is fascinating and to choose one of his albums
was a very difficult decision. cale was perhaps never more gentleman in his
own string arrangements to the charming popsongs on "paris 1919". since the
beginning with la monte young, tony conrad & velvet underground: john cale
is one of the most charismatic figures in rock, until today with "hobo
    sapiens" and "black acetate"...

My US pressing on Reprise (which I bought sealed in early 2021) doesn’t come with a lyrics insert but a Reprise / Loss Leaders inner sleeve, I’m looking for the lyric insert, if anyone has a spare lyric insert, let me know!

The 2006 remaster is totally dreadful, not sure what they were doing with it. There is absolutely no high end and just muffled bass and mids. The 1993 CD however seems to be a flat transfer and is the one to get if you're looking to acquire this on CD.

It says that it was only released in US, UK, and France. It was also released here in New Zealand. I bought a brand new copy in early 1974. I thought it was a new JJ Cale album. After first listening to it, I never bought another JJ Cale album, and have been an avid John Cale fan ever since. True story.

My 1982 Europe repressing sound sooOOOooo muffled and muddy, too. I thought I may have gotten a bootleg, but looking at reviews I guess that was just the way it was originally recorded, which was very disappointing considering what I paid and having only ever heard digital editions previously, which sounded much, much clearer. Hoping for a worthwhile remaster on vinyl some day, I would definitely pick it up again if the mastering was reviseted for greater clarity.
