Show All 15 Reviews- 'Transition' made it into Rolling Stones top 200 of all time at 38. The reviewer described it as 'Space Age Gospel'. I like that.
- My copy has the shoutout to James Jamerson and Jaco Pastorius in the runout; this is the recent repress yes? To allay some fears of those considering buying a copy - it plays perfectly on both sides, no crackle or other pressing faults as some mention below
- Edited 2 years agoDear Mike and all gyus from UR.
2 days ago we watched Laurent Garnier's movie "Off the Record" here in Moscow.
Big movie on the spiritual Way of knowing the techno scene by Laurent.Right after the movie we had the chance to have online converstation with Laurent. By the accident i got the chance to ask him: "How man vynils from your collection would u give for the original releases of Nation 2 Nation and Galaxy 2 Galaxy?". He confused a bit but told us he doesn't trade his vinyls, it's ordinary thing to suffer from the lack of certain vinyls. So what he has is what he has. And he added this is LIFE. It's LIFE/
To be honest i just asked the wrong question. I had to ask about the Real meaning of Detroit and UR releases for him as a DJ...as a person...as a man. I know he truly believes that UR and Mike and all the Detroit people had unbelievable influence on him....Because he wrote about it in his book. And when we read this book....we we almost cryin on the chapter about Detroit. We felt it through all this UR music.....In the end of the movie Laurent says ...."Im a lucky man!". U know, i Tthink we are so far away from him and Detroit. We are not superstars or well known DJs. But we have everything when we have TRANSITION on our MK3/ It is always in the right time and in the right place. It is our chance to say THANK U , DETROIT for what u've done. WE gotta have LIFE, but not just a living. - I can also confirm that the pressing has issues, at least on side A: constant clicks and occasional crackle. I got a little bit over excited about this repress as I listened to a friends copy, but didn't pay to much attention on the details, so I grabbed myself a copy recently. Initially I though it might be dirt, so I did a good clean-up and proceeded with a visual inspection and new listen. It's still there, same places on both copies. Under visual inspection there are imperfections, like dirt that got embedded into the press and created some places where it just clicks and pops :| Such I shame, as I really wanted this for so long, but guess I'll have to through some extra money into the initial pressing.
- As mentioned by others, the 2019 pressing is riddled with imperfections. On my copy there are multiple passages that suffer from pops/crackles and even after cleaning it looks like there's grime pressed into the grooves. Pretty disappointing as this is, without question, a classic UR release
- hello, gutes blut, the difference between the original and the re press is the labels, the original has a washed out yellow tint ,while the re press label is black and white, thats all.
- Edited 16 years agoInspiration is a wonderful piece of music, one where the title truly sums up the track. Transition is by far my favourite track though, and is actually one of my all-time favourite tracks, full stop. It is a record that needs to be put on when I'm feeling down or doubtful, and it always manages to inspire me again. This is a truly amazing track, with beautiful vocal inspirations coming to the forefront over uplifting synths. UR3000 is possibly the strongest UR release of all.
