This (mini) album, one of their finest in my opinion, definitely needs a re-press to combat the ridiculous prices being asked for here.

Replacing Douglas P. with Tony Wakeford for Earth Covers Earth marked a necessary evolution in the sound of Current 93. Wakeford's compositional style is much more suited to David Tibet's vocal style. His three main compositions on the Earth Covers Earth mini-album - 'Hourglass', 'Earth Covers Earth' and 'Rome' - are all beautiful, wistful sounding pieces, a step above the somewhat limited sound achieved on the previous album, Swastikas for Noddy. The addition of violin, flute, accordian and piano to the mix really helps do the music justice. This is the first time C93 started to sound like actual folk music. 'The Dilly Song' and the second version of 'Hourglass' are more experimental in sound, but still rooted in folk music sounds, a world away from the group's earlier electronic soundscapes.

The original 25 minute album is the format I prefer to listen to the album as. Although 'She is Dead and All Fall Down' is lovely, the other bonus tracks on the CD edition sound somewhat unfinished or totally unrelated in comparison to the main record.
