    Notes

    Original boxed version.
Initial copies included a cassette of the Western Works demo recordings plus an interview with John Peel.
Initial copies seen with printed labels or sometimes labels were added to the box so that buyer can attach them. These labels have the "Limited Edition" info printed, as well as "Special Presentation Box Set" mention.

Only print on front box cover : gold print and white typo on black.
All song and gig info uncredited.

This edition being pressed early 80s (81-83) as it got featured in the "History In cuttings" 2nd edition book dated 04/83 (https://www.joydiv.org/bk13.htm).

First 4 labels (sides A-D) are white, but with a lila touch and sides E-F are white. The reissue has all white labels though.

Runouts are hand etched and refer to mastering engineer Jack Adams ("JA"), who was seen to have worked with mastering studio "Tape One" since 1981. Obviously those were not involved in the making of this unofficial release.

Inner sleeves : paper die-cut with trimmed curved corners and print :
"ENVELOPE MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY" at the bottom on 1 side.
These sleeves are to be found mostly on UK releases from that era.

To correct I think the single/ep I mentioned just may have come seperatley-its a good few years now-1981/2-but the cassette definitely accompanied the box set.The 7"certainly has the same artwork and title-DNE-as I have 1 in front of me here!

Original UK triple LP Box Set with silk screened orange-brown/black cover. The first few hundred came with a cassette and a 7"/EP -both using the same artwork on the cassette box and the 7" labels as the Box Set.Soon the Box Sets came with no extras and were replaced anyway by a simple gatefold cover and same triple LP-same front artwork but inverted like a negative and simple black and white type pic.As I can remember I am fairly sure the gatefold cover was blank white inside!

Ooh, and my version came with a cassette as well, mostly composed of poor quality versions of the Western Works demos...loved 'em anyways, as I didn't get to hear the "proper" versions til the recent bootleg 12" EP release...yay!

A very interesting document. You can really trace the evolution of these songs here, esp. w/ Everything's Gone Green, during the extended workouts of which featured herein lie also the roots of "Temptation".
