- My copy of Platinum Funk has the same issues as mentioned below. It basically sounds like an intermittent loud scratch or zip sound, similar to what is caused by non-fill. I am going to reach out to Rhino/Warner Music Group about a replacement. I wouldn't think it's in the tape but rather an issue with stamper(s) or press calibration.
- Edited one month agoThis is a beautiful box, but….
There are five LPs contained. Galaxy sounds tremendous. I played it front to back. Now I’m on to Platinum Funk, a compilation LP that contains six songs from their brilliant Platinum Jazz collection of songs.
As I’m listening to Platinum Funk, I am playing track two on side one, “I Got You,” there are multiple spots of distortion or static that is embedded in the mix. It isn’t a problem with my turntable or receiver or speakers. I’ve played the same spots multiple times and it is there every time. A good cleaning did not change anything.
I wonder if anyone else can confirm this. I’d gladly have the label replace this LP with a trouble free copy of this LP.
If this is an issue that it is on the master tape, I would have appreciated some kind of label disclaimer. I am still playing each album to make sure this is my lone complaint.
