Reviews
- Pressing - 4.5/5
Very solid Pallas press. Flat, centered, quiet, and no imperfections aside from a tiny bit of inner groove distortion on Side A. But, admittedly, that could also just be some fuzz on the recording of Floaty. Sounds great regardless.
Mastering - 5/5
The master on this is excellent, with the caveat that this album is never going to sound as crisp and dynamic as the other Foo albums. As good as this is going to sound, IMO. I haven’t heard the CD on a hi fi setup, but I imagine others are probably right that it sounds similar.
Packaging - 2.5/5
Kinda disappointing, if I’m being honest. Flimsy sleeve and no insert, but at least the sleeve is poly lined. I’m an 80/20 record buyer, 80% for the music, 20% for the aesthetic, so I don’t really care - but, if you’re the opposite and collect records more as keepsakes, this one is pretty disappointing.
Overall - 5/5
Packaging aside, this is well worth the $15-20 it retails for. Great album and sounds as good as we can hope for. - Complete agreement with previous comments. My copy is flat, clean, whisper quiet, and sounds good, although virtually indistinguishable from the CD. As one of my favorite albums, I don't mind spending $15 on a quality, good sounding pressing from Amazon, but you could easily just stick w/ the CD. Nothing special about this pressing.
- Good quality all around. The sound quality is as good as can be expected from the source material they had to work with. No complaints.
- Remember something: the original recording of this album wasn't mastered when it came out in 1995. The first FF album is a demo Dave put together without the intention of releasing it, thus (the demos) sounded good without the need to be remastered. That's why the album sounds in such peculiar way. Still, CB did a great job lacquering this as for all the FF reissues.
- Disappointing vinyl version. Doesn't seem to be mastered for vinyl-- sounds just like the CD version to me.
- Edited 4 years agoNothing included besides the record and the download card, but if you're only looking for the music it sounds fantastic. Good Grief and Weenie Beenie in particular sound a little crunchier, in the best way possible.
- Alright pressing, disappointed that the picture sleeve wasn't included. Other then that, the vinyl sounds great.
