- This sounds great even without a wet wash. I couldn’t believe it but ameoba Hollywood still had a copy of this album after all this time. I tried to get it locally but they only had 3 rsd releases left(the doors, elephant 6, and bunnyman). I always like finding stuff in the wild so even tho I could have got it here it’s not as fun. Super happy about finding this great live album!
- I had bootlegged MP3s of this album that I listened to constantly in the mid-2000s, this is such an amazing sonic improvement over those old files haha. Really pleased with the sound and the pressing is free of errors (at least mine is). Great deal on a great album if you can find it.
- Edited one month agoFirst official release on vinyl limited to 3500 copies worldwide and it actually includes the "free bird rant!", the current price is a steal. Grab it while you can!
- I wet clean all new purchases before they are played.
Occasional tic here and there but overall solid. My copy may need a second wash but the mastering is good and this is a welcome addition to my MM collection. - This is a super clean pressing. It was recorded about a month before Jeremiah Green would take a 14ish month hiatus from MM (and therefore one of Indie Rocks's greatest drummers wasn't featured on 'Float On' or the monster album it came from) When I saw Modest Mouse, I once asked in a VIP about this record being reissued and Isaac Brock said he really wasn't a fan of it because of some bad blood with Epic over it's release. At least now we have it. I'm glad that he changed his mind.
- Really glad to own this one! Is this technically the first live release by Modest Mouse on vinyl? Don’t have or remember any others
- Edited one month agoThis sounds really really good! A very cool document of this classic Modest Mouse lineup during their transition from indie gutter-poets to tongue-cheeked slick indie pop purveyors (both of which Modest Mouse excel at). The guitar sound is especially visceral, and I can hear the amps buzzing underneath the jabbing bass lines. RSD these days is really just a series of reissues and live recordings, that being said, this is a really fantastic RSD release at a cheap price. The version of 'Doing the Cockroach' is phenomenal. It's extra acerbic, razor sharp, excoriated indie guitar shrapnel at its best. Also, the Free Bird rant is truly a perfect encapsulation of early aughts middle finger to contrived crowd participation, which even these days, can be an eye-rolling experience when crowds think performers are jukeboxes. 'Life is too fucking short to play or hear "Free Bird.'' Fucking gospel right there.
- Yes this record sounds super sweeeet. Excellent bass. Perfectly captured vocals. Punchy drums. Nice full spatial sound. Really rocks. Did I say really rocks. This was cheap too. $22.99. Which is cheap for a record nowadays. Bare bones packaging as mentioned but all I wanted was a great sounding record and they nailed that. Polylined sleeve too.
