This is great! Neither of the instruments have anything at all by way of sustain so it’s a lacework of notes, not anything softer or smoother. This is a greater challenge in the inner slow movements which actually are the most satisfying. The recording is terrific, gets out of the music’s way. Bream and Malcolm take a lot of liberties with the arrangements and make pretty well all the right choices as far as I can tell. The change of tone on each side shifting from Bach to Vivaldi is unsubtle and I end up liking each of them a little more. Finally, the liner notes are great.
