- Beautiful obscure baroque-psych-pop gem of soft folky material & a few rockers emerging in the twilight of the peace and love generation.
Elusive British singer/songwriter Philamore Lincoln [B: 1940) is drummer Robert Anson who changed his name to Phil Kinorra, first playing jazz & then in about 1965 he became Julien Covey[!] & in 1967 he then became folk singer Philamore Lincoln and signed to NEMS. After cutting a non-LP single for NEMS, he recorded this terrific album whose gifted song writing & arranging breathy vocals simple drum and bass foundations & haunting string arrangements accentuate this eclectic LP.
Look out for Jimmy Page playing lead guitar on several tracks augmented by clean engineering from brothers Glyn & Andrew Johns.
A rare ornate beauty. - Indeed, he (Lincoln) penned "Temma harbour" of Mary Hopkin fame. Included here in a lovely muzak-y version
- Who/where is this guy? I'm slightly obsessed with this record. Half of it is kind of run of the mill late 60's pop/rock while the other half is bordering on God-like masterpieces. It's been debated whether Jimmy Page plays on the record, which may or may not be true. Anyone knows anything about the other musicians? I've asked Wil (Wilson) Malone whether he arranged the string sections. He's reply was "I can't remember, but it sounds like me. My wife says I did it".
