*** A Note From the Producer ***
The material on this compact disc was recorded in a number of different studios on both sides of the Atlantic over a period of years. In all cases the earliest surviving tapes were sought out and digitally remastered to retain the sound as originally captured. In few cases, minor flaws due to tape deterioration were accepted rather than use later copies. No intrusive noise suppression was employed.
Two of the selections, on Tracks 14 & 15, were remastered from metal parts. They were recorded in 1944 and never released on LP, cassette or compact disc. Also listeners with keen ears will be able to hear low level motor sounds behind the music on Tracks 33 & 34. These selections were among those recorded in Los Olivos, Maestro Segovia's summer home on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean. The noise came from fishing boats in the bay below, from whom may have come the very sardines grilled that evening on the Segovia patio.
