- Edited one day agoLined up for this one on Record Store Day! A favourite of mine from the late 80’s. I did have an OG that I picked up recently but had to have this as well. I would say it’s not a world of difference between them, there’s only so much you can do with that era of production. There’s more clarity to Iommi’s guitar, especially in the solos, and the low end is tightened and beefed up a little bit (I still had to put my bass up a notch on my stereo just like the original.) It definitely sounds more cleaned up than the original version, Tony Martin’s vocals sound more clear as well. Just a tad more compression. Vinyl was flat and clean and the translucent red looks great. Overall an excellent reissue of this if you don’t already have it.
- Sounds amazing. Can definitely tell a difference between the OG and this one. This issue is more bass focused and they cut down on the treble a little. But I still prefer the OG.
- I’m gonna be honest and say I’ve never listened to this album before. It was an impulse buy for me on record store day. I like Black Sabbath in general but never gave the Tony Martin records a chance. That being said, this record sounds fantastic. I’ve spun it several times since picking it up. I don’t have a single complaint. There’s not one track I dislike and this is a great sounding vinyl in general. Didn’t hear any flaws in the pressing and sounds amazing with the volume cranked
- This sounds great - as good of a remastering job as you're going to hear. This will sound good next to the other Tony Martin remasters in the Anno Domini set.
The "A Digital Recording" note is also present on the original pressing - so I think they're just replicating the same back cover. This remaster is advertised as being an analog tape remaster. Either way, whatever's going on this is a great pressing. Hopefully they do another, non-RSD, run of these (they will). - This is a very good clean quiet pressing, sound quality is good, has a slight 'digital' sound and states it is from a digital recording. Really good but not that good analog warm sound, may be how it was originally recorded rather than the remastering.
However this is a 2025 Remaster and sounds good on good quality quiet vinyl. No defects in the copy I purchased, sounds good, no noise and lays flat.
