- Just my opinion, but I was disappointed by this release. I’ve tried to listen to it twice now. Hoping on the second spin, I’d like it better. No dice.
As far as the condition that a lot of folks are complaining about…mine isn’t great either.
First disc was a bit warped and had some intermittent snap and crackle (after a sonic cleaning too), second was better but not much. Meh but not enough to distract to the point of taking me out it.
But that wasn’t the main problem for me; for me it was this new mix. I’m only familiar with the movie mix. That wasn’t perfect by any stretch and often pretty rough but therein lies the beauty of it for me; you got a far more rawer, “live” (yes I know there were post overdubs on it), badass Floyd vibe from it that made the movie and the accompanying experience at least wholeheartedly FEEL like you were catching them mostly live, firing on all cylinders vs this overly polished, overly mixed, cold, slick-ish version that had me feeling I was listening to an alt modern version mix of Meddle that was ultimately discarded. I wish this one was and they’d stuck truer to the original film mix. I’d rather find a high end bootleg that does. Again, likely unpopular pov but compare “Echoes Part 1” from the movie to this especially Wright’s and Gilmour’s harmonies on the verses and tell me you don’t hear me what I’m talking about. A missed opportunity in my book. - Suena excelente, limpio a pesar de ser una reedición. Lastima que nunca salió en los años 70s, si no hubiese sido éxito mundial en ventas en esas épocas y en estas.
- Mild warping on my copy (both records), but doesn't affect playback. I'm so excited to have this release on vinyl, done properly. Great sound, a bit heavy on the bass but manageable.
- Edited 22 days agoPink Floyd in their infancy before really finding themselves. A concert set up in the the Pompeii Amphitheater recorded back in '71 in front of no audience. If you dig the first two albums you'll love this set. As for the audio it's as good as any 50 year old recording can get and you knew it was going to sound good if Steven Wilson touched it. Mine came flat with very little crackling throughout after a wet vac cleaning which should always be done no matter how good they look once you pull them out.
- Edited 23 days agoI guess i'm lucky, haven't experienced none of the issues people are complaining about. Both discs are perfectly flat. Sound is clear, no clics. Really a joy to listen to.
- Mine sounds perfecto right out of the shrink. One of the best sounding records I’ve bought in a while if I’m being real.
- I clean every record, new or used. 1st purchase had a lot of crackle, surface scratches, some routine clicks/pops (the worst imo). Returned, 2nd purchase is 99% perfect. Some minor surface noise towards the end if the last song on side B, not annoying. Amazing music, a must have for and Pink Floyd fan.
- Edited one month ago4 copies returned to Amazon, and all had lots of clicks, pops, crackles, some scratches, dish warps, and split sleeves.
Cleaning didn't help. Sound quality is awesome though. The level of disappointment is very high. - My US copy sounded great right out of the package. As always I use a velvet brush and a separate micro fiber brush before playing any vinyl on my turntable. The gatefold jacket is beautiful, and the poster is nice as well. No warping issues with mine either, nice and flat. Glad to have this historic performance on vinyl. I was on the fence if I should gamble on the US version vs. the UK, but wanted to make sure to let others know that you shouldn't be completely scared off from the US copies. If you're nervous, maybe purchase through somewhere you could return it if you are unhappy (like Amazon). Otherwise please support your local record stores when possible.
- Edited 29 days agoDamn. What a shame that this sounds like shit. After two deep cleans still a ton of surface noise, clicks, pops, distortion. pathetic.
