Reviews
- Edited 14 years agoThis album is outstanding. I've found that often with these trance artist albums, the only good tracks are the singles you already know, and the rest is either filler trance or music that veers off disappointingly into completely different styles (ie. electro, ambient, breakbeat) and whilst you may like those styles, they're not what you bought that particular album for.
Anyway, that is not the case here. Almost every track on 'Out Of The Blue' is instantly recognisable as the top quality work of Ferry Corsten. This album personifies a time when euphoric trance was at it's peak - they just don't make 'em like this anymore. Standout tracks here are 'Out Of The Blue', 'Elevate', 'Exhale', and 'Solstice', but in my humble opinion the star of this album is the wonderfully dark and hypnotic 'Needlejuice'.
The only tracks that don't do it for me are the two with vocals, 'Cry' and 'Soul On Soul'. They are not bad tracks per se, but the vocals seems a little out of place on an album which is predominantly instrumental. It's a small gripe though, and ultimately down to personal taste.
In conclusion, this album is a must have for any fan of late 90's/early 00's euphoric trance.
