Reviews
- So your a fan of that Fourth World Sound made "famous" by Jon Hassell and your craving for more of that on the fringe amalgm of world music. Blessed by atmospheric electronics and a definitive positive vibe They Call Me is THE hidden and unspoken gem that needs to be be hyped and circulated amongst aficionados' of new world music.
Tjernberg takes snippets of the natural world such as a floating beds of jungle crickets and layers fantastic percussive loops of kalimba, gamelan, hand percussion, bells and accentuates the compositions with electric violin, synths and the occasional harmonized trumpet ala Hassell. This is music for the adventurous listener with being too abstract, or atypical. Yes he draws from Indonesia, Africa and Europe as well as that fourth world sound but in his domain he mixed the spices just right to make the listening experience one of splendor and succulent sonic bliss.
