Believe me or not but "Altered States (Original Full Length Mix)" use a very short snippet from a Front 242 track which I have forgotten the name of (but will enter it when I'll recall it)?

Didn't hear this one till 1994 at a Lost night in London. I had been listening to chicago house since 1987, but this one missed me....Ive loved it ever since.

If you like the early Chicago House stuff then you need to have this record! The Afterlife and Altered States are both killers!

a homeboy of mine played the original pressing of "Making Love" at an outdoor party this past weekend, with ample surface noise and even some skips...gotta say, I think I like it even better in that context, sounds like a crusty snapshot in time, like finding a 1920s jazz plate and playing it today. Never heard it before, only Altered States, of course. I'd say it's pretty essential, surface noise or not!

House music at its best! "Altered States" Is a deep, dark infectious track that just ingulfs the dancefloor with its luscious strings and perfect but minimal groove. This track is perfect in every way. Its simplistic structure and production are unrivalled. RT has continued to produce and write many classics throughout his prolific career, however, this is his masterpeice!

So many people have tried to duplicate this track - from Josh Wink's "Higher States of Consciousness" to Slam's "Positive Education" but none can touch Ron Trent's "Altered States." This track captures it all - the acid workout, the feeling of Detroit techno and Chicago house. It's got guts. Don't fall for the pretenders.

THE Chicago Warehouse track; Altered States is dark, wonderful, and almost impossible to obtain in it's initial guise. Luckily Djax re-released this original mix with some POOR remixes. As has been said about these mixes - if it it ain't broke, don't fix it.
