"night dubbing" is one of the best remix albums of all times and my personal number one. just before "i.o.u." by freeez - as far as i know most of the effects done without the new technology used for "i.o.u.". so many good stereo effects and echoes. the new 2023 remaster of the album brings out many "new" noises / audio tricks in the background that i never heard before ( on the old cd ): at 3:20 and 3:25 on "music & lights" for example. i hope that "deluxe editions" of all albums are on the way with more demos ( as on the "40 years" box set ) and finally all instrumental versions of "music & lights", "just an illusion", "heat of the night", "body talk", "in and out of love"....i still believe that from the mixing project "night dubbing" are still alternate versions in the vaults like there are from "love and dancing". martin rushent said in an interview that there were many alternate edits done for that human league remix album. i hope they will be released in the near future too.....for now: the 2023 remaster of "night dubbing" sounds very clear and really good !! ( especially on headphones )

Surprised how polarising this album is. Was certainly a big album among my group of friends in South London in the 80s and we're still enjoying it.

For more in the same vein, check out Human League's Dub LP, Love & Dancing:

There was also a dub version of Soft Cell's Non Stop Electric Cabaret: Non Stop Ecstatic Dancing
While the original LP is a favourite of mine, the dub version doesn't do much for me.

Are there any other 80s pop dub/remix LPs I don't know about?

I thought this was great when it came out but little did I realise how ahead of its time it was!

tracks from my yooth! have to say i feel that the remix is more about switching between 33-45 rpm (seems especially so on the 1st track which may taint the rest of it for me as i can't stop laughing....). I would have much preferred to have the tracks in standard singles release format.

Changes is presented with a Larry Levan mix ( great piece of work) and burning up here either in a very special version, let's say burning up sounds like a NU Groove record from the Burrell Brothers
