Played by Marcel Dettmann, oof what a great a-side. Some serious bass in this.

Heavy new EP from German newcomer, Philipp Boston, on Berlin’s also new BTAIM label (only the second release for both parties). State of Play EP is a rough-n-ready, analog 3 tracker that draws from both early techno and house to craft something that sits nicely in the sweet spot between the two genres. The A-side, “Switchblade”, is an unrelenting slab of classic techno with dark, echoing male vocal snippets, swooping sub tones, and a driving, stab-y bass line. On the flip, “Enter The B-Truth” uses a high-energy diva house vocal over rolling Roland tribal rhythms and classic house stabs for some serious peak time vibes that rival that of the A-side. “Night Chime” offers something a tad more subdued with long, growly bass notes under a warm, atmospheric synth part and another familiar diva vocal sample. Very solid sophomore release for this new label and artist. (source: bklnbass.com)
