Entered Marula BCN years ago and Burning was being played. That awesome trip felt like forever. Sadly, it never felt the same way, but still.. got my copy.

One of Mr. Heard's top five releases. Fits right in with Guidance EP and Sceneries Not Songs Volume Tu/Ice Castles. Instantly recognizable Larry Heard sound, both deep and extremely thoughtful. Buy on sight.

Is the track "What?" from Black Market International different than the track "What Is Devine?" from Duality Records?

'Burning' will feature on the main man Hunee's 'Hunchin' All Night' compilation, due out in March on Rush Hour.

I remember buying this unheard when it was first released on Black Market ( such is my Larry Heard fandom) then getting it home, on the deck and skipping through it thinking " hmmm". Probably the first Larry Heard record that really disappointed me. The use of samples, the arrangements - just didn't add up to a great record for me. Ended up selling it but looking at the prices on here I wish I'd kept it 20 years! Thankfully Larry made amends with the incredible, beautiful Sceneries Not Songs LP the same year ;)

There really isn't a bad track on this EP but, for me personally, Burning is IT...

Having blessed us with so many great classics in the '80s, Larry gives us what has to be one of his best '90s efforts - an EP that came out first on the Black Market International label circa 1994 (a US repress would follow three years later). This EP, which is most definitely all about 'Black Oceans', is a super deep house cut - the kind of track that always (still) seem(ed)s to come so effortless for Larry.

Larry "Mr Fingers" Heard has never released a poor track. You can't say that about many artists, no matter the genre.

The track 'What Is Devine?' is a deep house cover of Deee-Lite – What Is Love? with some nicely added bass and synth melodies.
