This is not a particularly well mastered 12”. It sounds like there’s a veil over the speakers, which results in poor definition. Bass is prominent, but again, the jack of clarity ruins the listening experience.

Well, this sounds amazing! All of the 12" singles for the Faith album were very well produced. This one's no exception.

According to Billboard Magazine (June 27, 1987 pg. 1) Columbia Records distributed (to a few radio stations) a 15 ips tape edit of this song (which replaced the word "sex" with the word "love"). The idea being that the tune might otherwise be difficult to program (seeing as some stations interpreted the lyrics as promoting promiscuity). Vice president of promotion, Mark Benesch, denied that Columbia had anything to do with making the edit (suggesting that it may have come from an unidentified radio station). For its time "I Want Your Sex" was "bound to create controversy" as it was released in the middle of the AIDS crisis.
