Reviews
- Очень хорошая техника сведения. Второй микс менее выдержан по настроению. У первого интересный урбанистический ореол. Оба они тяготеют, скорее, к фоновому прослушиванию.
- Unpopular opinion - I don't think Underworld - Dark & Long (Dark Train) was a great fit for the second disc. Everything else, however is flawless (even after all these years).
I suspect Digweed was responsible for the ending of the second disc. He had a habit of throwing in mismatched tracks at the end of his mix CDs during this time. Take GU:Sydney (Albion - Air) and Bedrock 99 (Bedrock - Heaven Scent) as examples. - What is the track with the Kraftwerk sample on CD2. Does anybody know? Great mix that cd2 but as for who was the first DJ's to mix continuous tracks then it has to be the electro albums especially crucial side 1 (up until the abominable Rockit track!)
- Edited one year agoAm I the only one who can hear a mix-fault/transition fault on 1 of these cd's? any knows who did mixed this cd? pls let me know in a comment if you did found the same mix-error by point out the targeted cd, the songs mentioned and the mix-in-time so I will aknowledge that. Furthermore, a good classic analoge mix on SL-1200's, good phrase and key mixed result, as that really was hard to accomplish back in the day, respect to these brothers, they gave new way for opportunities to others !
- People goin off on this being made on protools :)
Its like blaming the blues guitars of the 30s tofor using acoustic guitars.
This project was more about the feel of the time, iot was something you played summernights after being up too long and just wanted some "getting down" music, after being to clubs and listening to djs for two days :)
Take it for what it is.
If you like hiphop, maybe the first devin album isnt the nr 1 classic you come up with, but damn it works after been out , come home to a nachspiel and smoking a fat one...
Every album is different..if you take this album to the club in 2022 i understand why so emotional :) - Since this release turned 25 years old this week, I feel like it’s appropriate to share the little-known fact that there was actually supposed to be a 20th anniversary reissue. Searching online the Ministry of Sound catalog number of MOSCD465 generates numerous music record shopping website placeholders for such a release. Unfortunately it never saw a release, as did a number of other MoS releases in 2016. The likely reason is probably due to regaining the copyrights to include all the necessary tracks. Otherwise it would have faced track omissions and replacements; similar to the 10th anniversary reissue of Sasha and Digweed’s Renaissance mix. Hypothetically, Northern Exposure could have seen a 25th anniversary reissue had there not been a pandemic and such a milestone would have triggered more effort into getting such a release accomplished. If Ministry of Sound gets their new release efforts back and running, they should do a series reissue that also includes Northern Exposure 2.
- pretentious self-obsessed pseudo-spiritual hippy nonsense complete with pillaried tesco value world music cd ethnic wailing on disc 1. Drop 12 tabs of Orange Sunshine and Get some Claude Young or DJ Randall down yer gullet, then you will see what a dj can do live with two turntables and not pro-tools!
- To clear up which version of 'The Gloom' was used.... The first half of the track is the original and the second half is the trancedub. They are mixed into each other in the breakdown.
- Well, it is 2021. Can we hope for the 25th anniversary? I guess it might be a problem with licensing the same songs.... Some record labels are pain the *** ....... hope not. What? Before Christmas? Normal (affordable price)? It is very easy do download it from the internet but I like the physical medium. Anybody is reading it? :-)
- As the LP is now ultra rare/expensive I have added extra info to the tracklisting like labels released on and year to help buyers find the right mixes of tracks they want on vinyl/CD/Beatport etc. Yes I was bored haha :-)
