Reviews
- Bones was a U.K. based female trio who provided backing vocals for a variety of artists. The members of Bones were Suzanne Lynch and Joy Yates (both from New Zealand) as well as American Jackie Sullivan. They performed with Neil Sedaka at the Royal Festival Hall in his 70’s come back concert, which was later released as a live album. Bones were regularly to be heard provided back up vocals on the U.K. pop television programme “Get It Together” for some of the U.K.’s biggest stars of the seventies. Mike Moran was their musical director for the show. Their first single “My One and Only” was written by the prolific Lynsey De Paul and it was the second single release on the newly formed Jet record label (Jet 748) and they appeared on a few British TV shows singing the song. The version shown here is the Italian version which was released by Polydor 2001 576 rather than the U.K. Jet injection mold label version. Very much in the same vein as 60’s female groups like the Shangri La’s, “My One and Only” is about a summer romance and it was also recorded by Lynsey herself, recently appeared on her album “Into My Music”. The B side, “Baby Don’t Make Me Cry”, another sixties sounding song was co-written by Lynsey and Barry Blue. Bone was go on to release another single later in 1975 “Twice a Week” written by Barry Mason and Roger Greenaway. They co-wrote the B-side to this single with Ron Roker and Gerry Shury.
