The track 'Noise Level 1' samples "Ripton Hylton - Creation" aka Eek-A-Mouse.... more words

B2 How Dark It Is samples MC Duke by MC Duke AKA E KUD CM and DJ Leader One! Sorry I just couldn't resist it! But why not? MC Duke is a living legend from Hip Hop to Junglizm! And so is DJ LEADER ONE.. Proper! P.s. Double H was always a great give away..
Anthony Hilaire, Edwin Henville... Obvious now but not so then...P.s. I always thought it was a shame that HIJACK didn't produce some Junglizm BITD as I am sure it would have been crucial... But oh well Ksly didnt like acid house much as he rapped so that's the way that went I guess...

Absolute classic and yet another hardcore bass bomb that helped define the madness and experimentation of 1993. A rare piece for sure, I payed a pretty penny to get a mint copy in my collection, and it'll take an act of God for me to part with it. I was positive MC DUKE was involved with this or sampled on it but I don't see credits anywhere so I'm not sure. I also have a record with the remix on it which is entitled EKUDCM, so there was some involvement there. Need clarity on that one. Nevertheless this is both light and dark, emotional and cold and hard, and represents both the high and the comedown that occured in 1993. Everyone had sufficiently rolled their faces off for years and the paradigm shift started. Darkness rushed in and production took a turn for the scary, in a reflection of all the burnt out heads. Well, that's my take on it anyway : ) But 1993 was undeniably frenetic, relentless, and absolutely amazing for jungle/hardcore. This is one of the 12"s that stood tall. 93NRG4EVA~

Another classic that I've just picked up from way back in '93. 'How Dark It Is' was given a lot of airplay back then, both on pirate and in the clubs. I loved the way Randall mixed Rhythm for Reasons - Music in Search of the Light into this tune. I had a mixtape of Randall's back then filled with real old school classics mixed flawlessly. I must say the other three tracks on this EP are also very good - but for me, this piece of vinyl will always be about track b2. Essential for any old school jungle DJ. Come in Rudeboy.
