- It's a great set, for the time. In the '90s, I only had the main albums as '80s vinyl reissues (as well as VU and Another VU) so this was the first time I had ever heard the closet mix of the third album, and the extended songs on Loaded. The additional demos and rarities were pretty cool, even if some of the live recordings are pretty rough. I still play mine after almost 30 years in the collection. I can't say that about all of my old CDs.
- The only bad thing about this box set is the fact that the original mono mix of the first album is not included in this box ....
- I've lived this box set since it first came out. My only issue is that the separate takes on disc one should have been indexed as separate tracks. Otherwise, this is a modest package that is all about the music. The book is great, peelable bananas were tough to come by in the 90s, so that was a bonus.
- My copy of disc 1 in this boxset has the correct art, but the music is actually the full length album for a band called Vybe. Does anyone else have this mispress? I don't see an separate entry for a version like this. Anyone know the deal?
- Edited 3 years agoOn my copy disc 1 it is the incorrect disc. Mine has the proper painted label stating 31452 7076-2. However the visible number on the other side is 31452 7067-2.
- I was really looking forward to the box. But I'm disappointed, the packaging of the CDs is loveless, in this regard more would have been possible...
- In an interview after the release of the box, John Cale said it's not him on 5-15 ("Ocean"), but Doug Yule, despite what the liner notes say.
- regarding packaging: the design of the CDs is pretty carelessly, anything else (the box, the book) is pretty nice.
