Can anyone confirm that the major identifier for a first pressing is that first pressing jacket has 'Jacket made in Canada' on the rear to the left of the (c) info?
And, that none of the subsequent releases have this? A Sealed and Mint copy just come up for sale (for a hefty price) and I want to make sure it can be identified as such before taking the plunge. Cheers in advance!

The initial pressings all included posters. I grew up in Louisville and bought this the week it came out. I do not recall it having a different label from the ones sold from Touch & Go when I interned there in 1996. My guess is Rainbo just ran out of the standard labels for part of a run. The poster was a horizontal image of a spider taken through a microscope by Noel Saltzman. Early pressings of Touch & Go's "Tweez" reissue included the same poster. A separate larger promotional version of the image with text was printed for display in record shops.

$561? That seems like a bit much.

This is great. But Squirrel Bait's "Skag Heaven" is better.

Hard call, sir. Both are top 2 for my self. Stupendous comparison though.

It's all about the space in the sound, the restraint, the minimalism. Awesome album, still enjoy it as much now as I did when I first bought it

I find this record a masterpiece. The circolary sound of the guitars moves me still so much..
The poor package, as an hiding place of a treasure

For me Spiderland is rather boring. It's all so pretentious, predictable, planned. The folky guitar parts make the front cover hearable: nothing happens, waiting in the water, speaking to yourself to stay awake.

Haha I'm real glad you laughed at that but the review is actually 100% tongue in cheek - I'm a long time massive fan of the album! I do, however, feel there's far too much reverence surrounding it and many other supposed post rock classics! It's only a goddamn records guys!

This is the best critical review of this overrated album I've ever read.

"When they rock out it sounds like they've done a shit in their sandpit."

I lol'd HARD. Frickin' win!

I nearly fell asleep in the cracks of this record, the big silent voids of emptiness where there's nothing happening, I think they must have been really depressed to make such a slow boring record. It's like listening to concrete dry. A couple of songs have terrible lyrics about some old wank, nerdy guy doesn't even try to sing. When they rock out it sounds like they've done a shit in their sandpit. I wish they'd have drowned like they were obviously trying to do on the cover. Your thoughts?
