Notes

Recorded at Van Gelder Studios, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey on September 2, 1965.

Some copies may have a gold stamp on cover "MCA/Impulse 29030". These are transitional copies using up existing covers/labels as the label moved this catalog title to a budget priced MCA reissue (although it doesn't appear they ever printed up new covers or labels with the new 29030 catalog number).

I actually enjoy this album more than A Love Supreme without a doubt. I pray this gets another look / remaster / repress but in all honesty this pressing is great for what it is (a posthumous release.)

Just a stunning album. It’s right up there with Ascension and Love Supreme. This deserved better than a posthumous release with such awful cover art. An essential album in the Coltrane discography. The ‘long’ version of “Serenity” is a masterpiece.

Such an underrated Coltrane album. It was recorded just after A Love Supreme but never released until 1977. Trust me, if this album had a better artwork, it would be way more appreciated. It's like A Love Supreme Part 2, and the introduction to Meditations.
