- John Coltrane was epic! listen in a quiet room, and relaxing..
https://180.215.13.104/ - Maybe Trane's Greatest. Had the pleasure of getting to know Bob Thiele pretty well when he was a client at a bank I worked at in the 80s. He is one of the greatest Jazz producers of all time with moire than his share of Pop hits as well, like "Put Another Nickel In the Nickelodeon" which he produced for his wife, Theresa Brewer. Bob and I had many long lunch conversations about our business (Engineering and Producing), including a very long one about this album and how a Recording of something as avant guard as Modal Free Jazz could produce a classic almost perfect album in One Day and very few takes. He said that with all his experience that day was a day of awe for him watching these amazing musicians agree with music so seemingly random, yet perfectly blended. He mentioned how Rudy Van Gelder could not believe how little he touched the controls during the entire day.
