- Edited one day agoA fantastic album with (yes), Brasil '66 vibes, except that it's from Texas. Choice material, lovely sound, excellent musicianship and superb vibes. It isn't psychedelic, but it is dreamy and it is funky. The bass and drums are heavier than on a Sergio Mendes album, so perhaps this is as much 5th Dimension as it is Sergio, for that reason. Either way, recommended!
- I would say that calling it a Sergio Mendes is not an insult. However, I believe there is more to this album. I can see why people see it as psychedelic. It mixes elements of psychedelia, with good pop sensibilities and latin jazz. It does it very well with a haunting drifting feeling that can get mistaken for psych stuff. Their is great musician ship on this album. They do an " unbelievable" version of walk on by. This album is stacked with great tracks. No wonder there are no copies at the moment.
- Really a great album. Not psychy but great softer jazzy bossa nova tunes. Kinda like Sergio Mendes if Astrud Gilberto was doing the vocals. If you can find it’s highly recommended. Really deserves another reissue!
- No idea why this is confused as 'Psychedelic rock' as its nothing of the kind. It is gentle pop Bossa Nova with nice vocals, very Sergio Mendes in fact.
Nice LP, but nothing psychedelic about it.
