Back when Techno was truly "TECHNO". Most of the shit you hear now is slow, extremely repetitive, pretentious trash.
This era from the late 90s and early 2000s ushered in great artists and sounds that expanded on techno from the years prior, such as Technasia, Luke Slater, Ken Ishii, Dave Angel, and so many more. Even from odd artists who dropped only 1 or 2 hits. There were a lot more interesting breakdowns, unique perspectives, hi-energy, and dancefloor fillers. A lot more emotion, and a lot less ego.

To anyone who stumbles upon this sound for the first time now, this is IT.
It is fast approaching 30 years of this particular EP... And this still sounds so fresh. The newer generations can't even replicate the emotions of this era. Welcome to the rabbit hole.

I remember Future Mix getting dropped by one of the residents at The Orbit around 2001 and I was astonished how well it went down because the crowd back then were pretty unforgiving when it came to Techno - very much all about the hardest shit you could handle. This was the same night Surgeon tore the club a new one too - I was almost close to tears he was that good!

I still remember the first time I heard a Technasia track, it was “Future Mix” in a mix by DJ Hell I had recorded from a radio show called “the 12 inch show” on the now defunct Slam FM back in probably 1998.

The minidisc I recorded it on was lost along the way, but I still vividly remember some of the tracks that were in the mix. Among it were Cubango by Jeff Mills, Yo Yo by Basement Jaxx, Moskow Diskow by Telex and Future Mix by Technasia. The titles I off course learned on later hand.

One of the tracks that stood out the most for me was Future Mix, after learning what track it was it must have cost me at least another year before I actually found the vinyl somewhere. I was listening to it the other day and it totally took me back and made me reminisce about the past.

If someone who reads this might have made the same recording of DJ Hell, I doubt it, but please let me know, you would make my day.

Two beautiful tracks. "The Declamation" reminds me of UR's "Amazon". "Future mix" really is two tracks blended with the sweetes transition. An awesome EP!

Simply one of the greatest tunes technasia ever did. This is an outstanding one in that decade when the track came out because of the composition, the arrangement, the monster step on the gas up to the middle of the track just to take the cool down transition to the second part of the track which leaves you a second to recognize how you got blown away before getting another hit. Perfect Soundtrack for a plane take off.

A tribute to the pioneering 'Future Mix Radio Show' in mainland China, the vocals on Future Mix by Rito Cheung read (please excuse my spelling of Mandarin, I dont speak it at all) " May loi Tzi sing " meaning Future Sound
