Reviews
- Lucky to have secured one of these in VG++ condition today. I have variant 5 on one side and variant 8 on the other. How common/uncommon was this practice in 1973?
- This one is incredible. Really sad that it’s warped, but doesn’t affect play at all. Should I try to fix the warp?
- Yes indeed! I’ve just grabbed a variant 8 and I can confirm what the colleagues said previously. This pressing sounds fantastic! I had never listened to this record so well. This release SMOKES the 2016 and the 2023s. It’s difficult to find clean copies of these old releases but they worth
- Fantastic pressing...sound is full and clean, minimal surface noise, no ticks or clicks. It was one of the first LPs I purchased as a teen. I just gave it a good wet clean and listened again and subsequently was blown away...again! You can do much worse than this pressing.
- This version sounds absolutely incredible, the best I've ever heard. I own the 2003 pressing and 1990s CD and this press made in 1975 is far superior, the ultimate copy for me.
- I have this album in several forms including this pressing. I just A/B compared this to my 79 MoFi pressing and have to say this actually wins. MoFi may have used Super Vinyl (whatever the hell that means) and half speed mastering, but somewhere along the way they actually messed this up. The new 2016 is also an embarrassment compared to this, esp with new pressings' tendecy to have tons of pops. I don't need any copy but this
- Edited 3 years agoI have a copy shown as Variant #9 for this pressing and will challenge its inclusion as a Winchester product (though I see that Los Angeles is mentioned in the "Factories" section above the runout matrix table). Side A features a tiny horizontal mark between #87 and WLY but this mark in no way resembles the usual Winchester rifle symbol. Further, The Pink Floyd Archives lists this as an LA pressing based on the matrices as follows < 7) SMAS-1-11163 F-54 #87 Wly 2 / SMAS-2-11163 F45 #87 Wly 4 (both written) [* MBC] >. NOTE the " *MBC ". I am not sure how to recommend converting this version to an LA pressing. Please advise.
- SMAS-2-11163-G•64 #8.. My version is so close to this number but instead it is #2 instead of #8. Everything else in the "Barcode and Other Identifiers" Is dead on. Anyone have a clue why?
