Reviews
- Details for this first pressing seem to conform with my copy I bought around release as a teenager. Although MPO only on runout of one side (no label text at all). Quite possibly the greatest 'Punk' album of all time in delivery, dynamics, imagination and sentiments Incredible..still astounds me.
- I have a copy with the same numbers and matches all the extra print outs with the record but has a sticker on the side B label “made in France”
- I notice in the photos here there is text on the back cover, hard to make out but perhaps “made in England”? My copy is identical to the description and photos except there is no text on the back cover. Anyone see this or know which version it’d be?
- The rating on this album should be closer to five stars. Practically song on Death Church is a classic. It's amazing the creative energy that was channeled into the album, never to be matched again on subsequent releases.
- has anyone done a shootout with copies of the 1983 Corpus Christi, 2014 Outer Himalayan, and the 2022 Sealed pressing? i'm curious as to how they stack up, fidelity-wise since the 2022 pressing is a remaster direct from the original analog master.
- IMHO probably was one of the best punk records ever recorded. Maybe because great art always comes from those people truly insane? What always struck me was that for being a punk band they had a total disdain for the punk movement. Telling is the informational sheet that came with the initial release with the following quote, "There's nothing I find more tedious than the rows of identical painted leather jackets - how moronic". Plus the statement that "The 'Punk Scene' is just a big farce". I guess what hit me was the blinding brilliant madness of some of the lyrics, I could fill a page just reprinting some here, but one of my favorites is the historical clarity of the song "Dutchmen", the final track almost Biblical in its "let he without sin cast the first stone" central theme, victims are not always what they seem. RP releases seemed to come when Nick was not wasting away in a mental ward, and if anything his artwork is a prime example of tortured genius.
