Reviews
- Edited 17 years agoBlack Flag’s first full-length album is pretty heavy going, as you would expect from the cover photograph and a cursory glance at the track titles. I’ve bought and then sold this one more times than I care to remember. Along with Germs’ “(GI)”, this record basically set the blueprint for the West-Coast hardcore sound. It’s an important album historically but it’s just too bleak and depressing to listen to. The majority of the material here was written before Henry Rollins joined the group and for the most part sound better with their original vocalists (See the “Everything Went Black” compilation).
