- Edited 2 years agoThe recording does not sound tinny in the least, I would say that the midrange is a bit forward, meaning it is accentuated. The bass by comparison is not as fully fleshed out but it is present. The treble is also a bit forward but not to the point of being fatiguing.
I think they chose to cut the record this way to give more punch to the guitars, vocals and drums, while the low end bass suffered by comparison. If you turn up "Surprise! You're Dead!" the guitars simply sound amazing and shred, the soundstage is realistic and compelling.
Regardless, the sound is clean no noise or crackles. A good choice but you may want to turn up the bass or add a subwoofer. - Shocked to hear that it sounds tinny to some. I have the same exact pressing and Billy's bass rumbles across everything like a thunder. It's a really loudly pressed, hot master, not UHQR-tier one, but I really enjoy it.
- Edited 2 years agoComparing this to the Australian pressing, it packs more of a punch than this. Shame since usually UK pressings are done well but whatever was done here made the music flat, lifeless, with no bite
- To me this pressing sounds a bit tinny, would like to get a chance to listen to another press one day
