    Paranoid London's girlfriend once threw a shot of vodka in my eye because we didn't offer to buy her a kebab.

        This IS different to the version on the lp. Longer and also an instrumental cut, oh did i mention the live cut too. . . .. .

          i would say the combination of a flat track and exquisite vocals kicks anything

            Don't buy this record, just buy their album which has the cut on it.

              ... despite the hype, the prices and such: am I the only person who bought this EP mainly for the live track ? :D

              Actually the Dub 1 is very nice, very mass-friendly and got played by underground heroes & bedroomers,
              as by "youtube-djs" ^^ but it doesn't go beyond that, therefore the track is too much stripped down,
              referring to Reverbation - yep it appears to be a bit unfinished imo too, too less to really impress;
              too much minimal-approach - the live track is the opposite of that ...

                if you ask me , taking out Paris Brightledge's voice which everyone is all about - the tune is mostly unfinished. its a flat beat with a simple 303 baseline and a few hi-hat & rimshot games, not worth any of these rid prices everyone is mentioning.

                  This tune is getting a lot of hype and I'd have to say it deserves it.

                  It's suuuch a simple track--but then so many of the great ones are. It perfectly captures that almost indescribable, kinda dark, kinda euphoric, utterly infectious feeling of the underground house dancefloor in the wee hours that so many of us seek out and never get enough of.

                  The rumbling 303 line in 'Paris dub 1', knobbed with great restraint works really well and makes me feel like getting down in some really freaky ways. Plus, It gets better and better with repetition. By the end, it has me totally under its spell and I'm a jacking maniac.

                  If you listen closely with headphones, there is a fair amount of noise/hiss in the mix of this recording. Usually, this would bug me. But I don't mind. The strengths of this jacking tune overpower such insignifigant concerns and reminds us what we're there for. This record is the absolute antithesis of all the dreadfully borning, soul-less ableton bullshit you'd hear on most current tech-house/"deep" house/minimal dance floors. Give me a nasty 808, 303 and somewhat off-key, soul-ful vocals anyday.

                    OK, let's face it - we've been swept over by a chicago-revival over the last 4 years and there's been a hell lot of new producers trying to sound chicago'ish by filling their tracks with 707 sounds, next to a flood of re-presses. And honestly, 95% of the newer stuff is between ok and crap. This 12" however is a masterpiece, and can play along the mighy giants of the 80's classics on trax. And why? Because it's simple, soulful, raw as hell and nothing more. No over-production, no unneccesary drum changes, just simply the beat, the 303-bassline, and the voice of Paris Brightledge. Three elements working perfectly together, all you need.
