Personally prefer Jonsson/Alter's remix to even the original version of the track. While completely abandoning the restraint and minimalism of the original, it keeps its emphasis on sound design intact. The sudden rush brought by the melody line is dramatic, unabashedly emotional and slightly sleazy, a rare instance of pulling off the move perfectly. Definitely designed for late night, hands-in-the-air moments. Nodge's remix is an interesting DJ tool and quite fine on it's own, a halfway point between the original and the Jonsson/Alter mix. "Beautiful' tends to get overshadowed here simply on the strength of the others, but it is a fine original somewhat strangely tossed on the back of what is otherwise a remix pack.

Three heavy duty cuts on this record, each going in it's own direction, each strong in different ways. Norman Nodge's remix is my pick, passing the original's sounds through his minimalist sieve, painstakingly placing them in a vast yet intimate sonic space, and finishing it off with a final dusting of static hiss. Jonson/Alter's remix is much more musical, anchored around a lumbering bassline and haunting arpeggiated chords. Lastly, Cheap and Deep's own Beautiful is the records techno stomper, a textured acid track with an evocative vocal. Recommended.

the record is a us pressing cut by one of Chicago's legendary mastering engineers, he's cut everyone from Prescription Underground to Axis to Levon Vincent ( to name a few) both sides are less than 12 mins, therefore the program length combined with the 33rpm cut means that the record was cut at ' club level'. DJ Mixers are also equipped with 'gain' controls which can also be helpful when matching US and European mastering levels during a mix.
