First record I ever bought. The A side is familiar to anyone who's been to a RAM event, and despite a maybe overly anthem-y lead and basic kick-snare beat, it's one of those tracks that get even the snobbier dnbheads moving. In my opinion, what makes this record really tick is the great use of the Nirvana sample that builds a groovy bassline and the clever processing of hats(lots of quick gating) that makes up the busy and energetic highend.

The b-side is a good example of what a more average RAM release from this time might sound like, and will always live in the shade of the immense popularity that X-Ray had.

Both of these tunes are international drum & bass anthems and the finest pieces by Sub focus. 'X Ray' is a slamming anthem with a crazy guiter riff and synth line. 'Scarecrow' is more of a roller with a warping bassline over the crisp beats. My pesonal fav of 2005
