I’ve basically stopped looking for records in charity shops as it’s pretty much impossible to find anything good these days, and if they do have something decent it’s always way overpriced. But around 2 years ago I went to a shitty charity shop in a small town in northern Sweden to buy some used DVD’s, as there’s no internet in our cabin that’s nearby. Next to their huge section of VHS tapes and scratched up old DVD’s was a crate of what seemed to be mainly James Last and various schlager LP’s. For some reason I still started flipping through them, and to my surprise, well I guess SHOCK is a better word for it, I found VG+ first press copies of Saxophone Colossus, Hank Mobley Sextet’s Hank on Blue Note and the signed and numbered The Artistry Of Lars Gullin. The tired guy at the counter wanted €1, for all three (plus two DVD’s)! I’m not overexaggerating when I say I very nearly shat my pants right there and then.
